|Wang Yi on the Five-point Important Consensus Reached at the Video Conference of Foreign Ministers of China, Afghanistan, Pakistan and Nepal on COVID-19|
On July 27, 2020, in his concluding remarks at the video conference of Foreign Ministers of China, Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Nepal on COVID-19, State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi pointed out, the fruitful conference focusing on the theme of anti-epidemic cooperation is in line with the expectations of all parties and meets the interests of all parties, reaching a five-point important consensus.
First, the four countries should consolidate the consensus on solidarity against COVID-19, adhere to multilateralism, reject politicizing the epidemic, and build a global community of health for all.
Second, the four countries should enhance joint containment cooperation against COVID-19 and cut off cross-border infections. The four countries should discuss launching "fast-track lanes" for personnel exchanges and "green channels" for logistics, and strengthen cooperation on aspects such as anti-epidemic supplies, technologies, drugs and vaccines.
Third, the four countries should work together to ensure economy and people's livelihood, promote work and production resumption of key cooperation projects, maintain the stability of the industrial and supply chains, and expand new areas of digital cooperation.
Fourth, the four countries should continue to promote the joint construction of the Belt and Road Initiative, explore ways to synergize the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and the Trans-Himalayan Multi-Dimensional Connectivity Network, support the extension of the CPEC to Afghanistan, and create a regional network of connectivity.
Fifth, the four countries should support the international system with the United Nations as the core and safeguard the international order based on international law, well safeguard the common interests of developing countries, and build a community with a shared future for mankind.
Wang Yi said, the conference has made new efforts and built a new platform to promote cooperation among the four countries, and it is the cooperation among neighbors, partners, and friends. We are willing to maintain close communication with all parties and work together to push cooperation among the four countries in fighting against the epidemic and restoring economic and social development for more tangible outcomes to benefit people in the four countries.
