On July 16, 2020, while attending the Inaugural China-Central Asian Countries Foreign Ministers' Meeting via video link, State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi noted, Central Asia has an important strategic position in today's international arena. A developing, stable and prosperous Central Asia with good-neighborly relations with its neighbors and active participation in international affairs serves the common and fundamental interests of China and other countries in the region, and is also a lasting positive energy for promoting world peace and development.
Wang Yi said, the Chinese government attaches great importance to developing strategic partnership with Central Asian countries and firmly supports them in pursuing development paths suited to their national conditions, firmly supports them in safeguarding their sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity, and firmly supports them in improving the well-being of their people as well as accelerating their own development.
Wang Yi stressed, cooperation between China and Central Asia is based on the common needs of both sides and not targeted at any third party, nor will it affect the bilateral and multilateral cooperation that existed in Central Asia. We oppose the color revolution and the zero-sum game in Central Asia by external forces and oppose the interference in the internal affairs of the countries in the region under the pretext of human rights.
Wang Yi noted, guided by China's neighborhood diplomacy policy, China's policy toward Central Asia upholds the principles of amity, sincerity, mutual benefit and inclusiveness, and adheres to developing amicable relationships and partnerships with our neighbors and fostering an amicable, secure and prosperous neighborhood, and is committed to enhancing political mutual trust and elevating cooperation level with Central Asian countries for common development and prosperity.
