|Wang Yi Meets with Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu of Turkey|
On July 30, 2019 local time, State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu of Turkey in Bangkok, Thailand.
Wang Yi said, President Xi Jinping and President Recep Tayyip Erdogan have reached important consensus during the latter's recent visit to China, charting the course for the development of bilateral relations. The Chinese side is ready to, together with the Turkish side, implement the consensus reached by the two Heads of State, strengthen strategic mutual trust, enhance counter-terrorism cooperation and continue to firmly support each other on issues concerning the core interests and major concerns. The Chinese side congratulated the Turkish side on the new progress in its relations with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, making more new friends.
Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu noted, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's visit to China in early July was a big success. The Turkish side stands ready to work with the Chinese side to implement the consensus reached by the two Heads of State, give full play to the role of mechanisms such as inter-governmental cooperation committee, and boost cooperation in the areas of economy and trade, security, high-speed railways, nuclear power, aviation and people-to-people and cultural engagement, in a bid to elevate China-Turkey relations to new highs.
