Xi Jinping pointed out that China always upholds multilateralism and supports the UN in playing an active role in international affairs. The more complex and severe the situation is, the more necessary it is to highlight the UN's authority and role. We should promote greater unity and progress of the world under the UN's banner. China will continuously support the UN's and the Secretary-General's work with concrete actions.

Xi Jinping expressed that the complexity and turmoil is on the rise in the current international situation, and the Gulf region is in an especially sensitive situation and standing at a crossroads of war and peace. China always stands on the side of peace and opposes war. All sides should remain calm and exercise restraint, enhance dialogue and consultation, and jointly safeguard regional peace and stability.

Xi Jinping pointed out that the G20 Osaka Summit should fully consider the need of global development and deliver correct signals to the world. The Chinese side appreciates Mr. Secretary-General's efforts to promote international cooperation in addressing climate change, and is willing to push for positive outcomes of the UN Climate Action Summit.

António Guterres said that the international situation is now at a critical moment, as tensions are emerging in trade and the Gulf region, and the world is facing insufficient willingness to promote multilateralism and follow rule of law. The more difficult moments the world faces, the more important it is for the UN to play its role. The China-proposed Belt and Road Initiative is of great significance to boosting global development, especially the development of Africa. The UN hopes to see China displaying more leadership in international affairs, and is willing to provide the most comprehensive support and cooperation. The UN stands ready to make joint efforts with China to better enable global governance to play its due role and turn the adherence of multilateralism into the mainstream practice in the international community.
