Wang Yi: Stand Firmly Against Any Foreign Attempt to Interfere in Hong Kong Affairs

On June 19, 2019, State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi and Minister of Foreign Affairs Stef Blok of the Netherlands jointly met the press in Beijing. A journalist raised a question about the amendment to the Fugitive Offenders Ordinance of the government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR).

Introducing the whole process of the matter, Wang Yi expressed that the central government supports, respects and understands the Hong Kong SAR government's decision to suspend the process of amendment to the ordinance.

Wang Yi pointed out that it is highly alarming that some Western forces have been stirring up trouble and provoking confrontation, in an attempt to undermine Hong Kong's peace and stability and the "one country, two systems" under the pretext of this issue. We want to shout it out loud: Please take back your vicious hands! Hong Kong affairs are purely China's internal affairs, and Hong Kong is not the place where you run amuck!
