|Consul General Duan Jielong Called on the Premier of NSW|
On May 6, Consul General Duan Jielong paid his first official call on Mr. Barry O'Farrell, Premier of NSW.
Mr. Duan extended congratulations on Mr. O'Farrell's assumption of office. He thanked the Premier and his Government for the excellent arrangements in receiving Mr. Jia Qinglin, Chairman of CPPCC, during his recent visit to NSW in April. With important consensus reached by leaders from both countries on further promoting the China-NSW relationship, especially in the fields of economic and trade cooperation and people-to-people contacts, the Consul General said, Chairman Jia's visit would bring new opportunities for the development of bilateral relationship. Mr. Duan welcomed the Premier's plan to lead a trade delegation to China, and conveyed to him the aspirations from Chinese provinces and municipalities to develop further cooperative relations with the state of NSW.
Mr. O'Farrell said it was an honor to host Chairman Jia's visit just days after taking office, the visit was such a success that he received positive feedbacks from different sectors of NSW, especially the private ones. The Premier stressed that the Government of NSW highly values its relationship with China, and he looks forward to developing even closer and practical cooperation with Chinese provinces and municipalities through his visit later this year. He spoke highly of the contributions that the Chinese community made for Australia, and welcomed more Chinese tourists and students to NSW for sight-seeing and studying.
