Consul General Hu Shan Attends Welcoming Banquet Held by NSW Chinese Community

On November 28, Consul General Hu Shan attended a welcoming banquet jointly held by Australian Council for the Promotion of Peaceful Reunification of China (ACPPRC) and Australian Council of Chinese Organizations (AUSCOCO).

Mr. Hu expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the NSW Chinese Community for its warm welcome. He commended the Chinese Community's great contributions to the economic prosperousness, social progress and multi-culture development, and spoke highly of its precious support to the development of original country. He thanked the NSW people and Chinese Community in particular for their selfless assistance in the fighting against China's serious snow disaster, devastating earthquake and in hosting the 2008 Summer Olympic Games. As a responsible great power, Mr. Hu pointed out, the Chinese government had taken a series of important measures to bolster the economy in the face of global financial crisis, which was very well received by countries of the world.

Chairman of ACPPRC Mr. William Chiu representing the Chinese Community, Mr. Henry Tsang MLC representing NSW Premier and Ms. Gladys Berejiklian MP representing NSW Leader of Opposition welcomed Mr. Hu to Sydney in their speeches, and expressed best wishes for his tenure.

Other VIPs present at the banquet were Ms. Virginia Judge, Minister for Citizenship, Minister for Fair Trading, MP; Mr. Jonathan O'Dea, MP and Senior Honorary Chairperson of ACPPRC Mr. Frank Chou. Approximately 500 people from the NSW Chinese Community joined the event.
