for International Investment & Trade
China Fair for International Investment & Trade (CFIIT) is sponsored by the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation (MOFTEC) of the People's Republic of China and organized by the People's Governments of Fujian Province and Xiamen Municipality. Various provinces, municipalities, autonomous regions of mainland China and State ministries and comminations concerned will organized delegation made up of China’s government officials of various ranks and representatives from enterprises to participate in the Fair, Mr. Shi guangsheng, Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation, is the honorary director of the Organizing Committee and Mr. He Guoqiang, the governor of Fujian Province, serves as the Director. The CFIIT is scheduled to be held between September 8-12 in Xiamen, Fujian province every year. International investors, trade businessmen ,intermediate agencies and financial institution worldwide and representatives from foreign investment trust and foreign-funded enterprises in China as well are invited to join the fair and set up exhibition booths. The Fair aims at promoting investment, coupled with trading products of foreign-funded enterprises and both domestic and international trades, relying on diversified exhibitions, Trade and economic cooperation across the Straits constitutes the main characteristics of the Fair, The Fair gives prominence to investment, stressing the promotion of utilization of foreign investment in Middle and West China and emphasizing trade and economic cooperation with Taiwan. Based on this, it further intensifies the promotion of investment in hi-tech projects and in key industrial supporting projects encouraged by the state as well as in large-sized state-owned projects. Meanwhile, the Fair actively encourages and gives the guidance to froeign-funded enterprises in East China to invest in Middle and West China, so as to improve the quality and level of utilization of foreign investment. CFIIT is the sole national investment promotion event dominated by foreign direct investment . In 1998, 6377 overseas businessmen from 60 countries and regions attended the second CFIIT. 45 specialized exhibition halls with more than 1000 booths have been established in the Fair. Over 13000 projects for investment were put forward in the Fair. “Symposium on Investment Strategies of Transnational Corporation” and “Symposium on China’ Policies of attracting foreign capital “were held in the Fair. On the Symposium , State Councilor Wu yi and Mr. Rubens Ricupero, secretary-general of UNCTAD made speeches. The third Fair for International Investment & Trade was held on September 8-12, 1999 and the fourth session will be on September 8-12, 2000 The interested business circles in Australia hoping to better understand and attend the Fourth Fair of International Investment and Trade may contact with consul, Miss Zhang zhandong, Guangzhou Export Commodities Fair Chinese Export Commodities Fair has been held twice a year( April 15-30, October 15-30)since its inauguration in the Spring of 1957 in Guangzhou, the largest city in South China. Housed in a complex with a floor space of 160,000 square meters, the Trade Fair lasts 15 days for each session, Spring and Autumn. Being organized by 47 Trading Delegations and Attended by thousands of exhibitors, who are China’s best foreign trade or foreign economic corporations( enterprises) of good credibility and sound financial capabilities, the Trade Fair shows in a concentrated manner to the visitors more than 100,000 varieties of commodities. Business negotiations are conducted against the samples on display. The commodities available for export are displayed in different exhibition halls under six categories, ie., FOODSTUFFS, NATIVE PRODUCE & ANIMAL BY-PRODUCTS; LIGHT INDUSTRIAL PRODUCTS, ARTS & CRAFTS; TEXTILES & GARMENTS; METALS & MINERALS AND CHEMICALS; MEDICINES & HEALTH PRODUCTS; MACHINERY & ECECTRONIC PRODUCTS. Last session of the Trade Fair was attended by well over 70,000 business people from 160-odd countries and regions. The export turnover of each session exceeds US$ 10 billion. By now, Chinese Export Commodities Fair has become China’s largest trade fair, a fair of the highest level, and of the largest business turnover, Preserving its traditions, the Trade Fair is a comprehensive and multi-functional event of international importance. As it has made important contributions to the exchanges, technical as well as economic between China and the rest of the world, the Fair has been honored with the title of “bridge for trade and a tie of friendship”.
