|Consul General Hu Shan Bid Farewell to NSW Premier Keneally|
On 15 Feburay, 2011, Consul General Hu Shan paid a farewell call on the Hon. Kristina Keneally, Premier of NSW.
Consul General Hu thanked the Premier for her support to the work of the Consulate General and himself. He said that the relationship between China and NSW has witnessed continuous and in-depth development thanks to the concerted efforts of both sides. There have been frequent high-level political exchanges and fruitful cooperation in business, investment, science and technology, culture, and other fields. The number of Chinese students and visitors coming to NSW has registered a steady growth. The Chinese side highly appreciates the commitment and support on part of the Premier and NSW Government in advancing the relationship with China.
Premier Keneally said it was sad to learn Consul General Hu's departure. She spoke highly of the work he's done to promote the cooperation and exchanges between China and NSW, which impressed not only government officials, members of Parliament, but people from all walks of life in NSW. The Premier recalled with much pleasure her visit to China and Shanghai Expo last year, which she believes to have given a fresh boost to the links between NSW and China, especially with Beijing, Shanghai, Guangdong. She fully agreed with Consul General Hu's assessment of the current NSW-China relationship, stressing that the relationship now enjoys a firm ground and strong support, and there has been wide consensus throughout NSW that cooperation with China in fields like economic and trade, culture, education, tourism, etc. is fully in the interests of people of NSW. She will always support the bilateral relationship as a good friend of Chinese people.
